Overview
ISO/IEC 17025:2017 defines general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories and is the primary normative document for their accreditation. This course will provide laboratory staff, accreditation body personnel, and other interested parties with an understanding of these requirements, within the context of a laboratory.
This is an instructor-led, virtually delivered course. Over five 3.5-hour sessions you will participate in a combination of lectures, discussions, group work, and case studies while exploring the application of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and related normative documents. To get the most of this course, come prepared to engage in group discussions, share your professional experience, and contribute to case studies.
Course material will reference standards, SCC Requirements and Guidance and relevant ILAC documents. Course participants will be provided with a copy of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as part of their registration.

- determine if laboratory policies, processes, procedures, and records conform to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
- identify potential nonconformances related to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
- identify and leverage other normative documents related to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
- discuss common challenges faced by organizations working with this standard.
How it is delivered
This course is facilitated by an experienced assessor in the domain of testing and calibration laboratories. The course methodology includes lectures, discussions, exercises as well as case studies to reinforce the content and offers practical consideration of applications of the standard.
This instructor-led course will be held in three and a half-hour time blocks over five days. Learners will attend using a virtual learning program and will participate in live discussions and activities.
