C22.2 No. 96.1-04
Mine power feeder cables
This Standard specifies construction and testing of mine power feeder cables normally used for power
distribution in stationary or semi-stationary applications that are covered by CAN/CSA-M421 and the
Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. This Standard covers cables with voltage levels of 5, 8, 15, and 25 kV rated
at 100% and 133% insulation levels.
This Standard specifies the following category of cable:
4 Mine power feeder and mine power feeder with ground-check conductor
The cable constructions specified in Clause 4 of this Standard are suitable for use at a maximum conductor
temperature of 90 °C under normal operating conditions, in wet or dry locations, outdoors, or in
underground mines, and in rugged environments.
This Standard does not specify all types, sizes, or temperature and voltage ratings of mine power feeder
cables that can be required for particular applications.
In CSA Standards, ?shall? is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to
satisfy in order to comply with the standard; ?should? is used to express a recommendation or that which
is advised but not required; and ?may? is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the
limits of the standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative
requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or
informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be
written as requirements. Legends to equations and figures are considered requirements.
