Copyright licencing of standards
By purchasing a standard, users obtain access to its full version. Access to the standard is exclusive to the purchaser only. For information on extending this access to others, review “Reproducing or Sharing Standards”.
Reproducing or Sharing Standards (Copyright Licensing)
SCC protects the integrity of ISO and IEC standards in Canada and prevents their unauthorized reproduction. A business or organization who wants to share a standard with its employees or reproduce the standard, in whole or in part, or a student who wants to reproduce part of a standard for their thesis may request permission from SCC.
To request permission, clients must provide proof of purchase for the standard(s) they are seeking to reproduce or share. The request may also be subject to a royalty fee. The amount of the royalty fee will depend on several factors, including how much of the standard(s) is being reproduced and the purpose for the reproduction (educational purposes, sharing on an internal network or commercial purposes).
To learn more about proper standards use, read the brochure on "How to best use IEC and ISO Standards”.
