Standardization Network Response to COVID-19
Many Standards Development Organizations (SDO) are providing access to essential standards to assist companies and manufacturers to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. SCC has compiled information as a reference guide for government and industry. The information is intended to help develop necessary medical equipment and to help industry deal with the pressures of business continuity and crisis management.
It must be noted that this resource is not intended to outline ALL necessary standards, and that users should seek the advice of the appropriate regulator to ensure compliance. In addition, the conformity assessment entities (i.e. labs and certification bodies) below include only those that have shown evidence of accreditation for the specific tests and product standards.
Health Canada has made available a list of specifications for the purchase of COVID-19 products, including for personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators. Related standards and associated SCC-accredited testing bodies can be found in the following table:
Additional standards available from our SDO partners that may be helpful during this time can be found below. Further to this list, you are encouraged to visit the direct websites of Standards Development Organizations who have published COVID-19 messaging, including ISO, CSA, ASTM, UL Inc., IAPMO, HSO, IEC and CEN. If you have difficulty accessing any of these standards, please contact us at info@scc.ca.
