The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is proud to announce that the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ) has become the first customer accredited to our Energy Management Systems Accreditation Program.
By becoming accredited to SCC’s Energy Management Systems Accreditation Program, BNQ is now able to certify organizations in the implementation of the International Standard ISO 50001 – Energy Management Systems. By establishing energy management systems and processes in accordance with ISO 50001, organizations can improve their overall energy performance, including energy efficiency, use and consumption. These improvements can lead to significant energy cost savings, as well as reduce an organization’s greenhouse gas emissions and other adverse environmental impacts.
SCC is Canada’s national accreditation body. SCC accreditation helps certification bodies deliver services with confidence and attract new customers. As a signatory member to several international mutual recognition and multilateral agreements, SCC’s Accreditation Program is internationally recognized.
“ISO 50001 is an important standard, and organizations that implement it will be able to realize significant energy savings. SCC is delighted that BNQ has become the first organization accredited under our Energy Management Systems program, and I know certification to ISO 50001 will offer tremendous value to their clients.”
-Chantal Guay, CEO, SCC
“In an area where trust is a key component of our services, being accredited by the Standards Council of Canada’s ISO 50001 program is crucial for the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ) as this ensures that our procedures and approaches undergo an external review, and that standards are being met.”
