The Standards Council of Canada has accredited two quality systems registration organizations and two testing laboratories.
Bureau Veritas Quality International (North America), Inc. (BVQI) of Jamestown, New York and KPMG Quality Registrar Inc. (KPMG) of Toronto, Ontario have been accredited as quality system registration organizations, effective June 6, 1995.
Quality systems registrars determine whether an organization's quality system meets with the requirements of a standard, such as ISO 9000.
Stelco Fasteners Ltd.'s Quality Assurance Laboratory of Brantford, Ontario and Les Laboratoires Industriels et Commerciaux Inc. of Montreal, Quebec have been accredited under the Program for Accreditation of Laboratories - Canada (PALCAN).
Stelco Fasteners Ltd.'s Quality Assurance Laboratory has been accredited to perform specific chemical, mechanical and physical tests involving plain carbon, low alloy and medium alloy steels as raw materials and in manufacture up to and including finished bolts, screws, pins, rivets and weld studs.
Les Laboratoires Industriels et Commerciaux Inc. has been accredited to perform specific mechanical tests involving construction materials, windows and doors (installed or not), sliding doors, and curtain walls.
Organizations accredited by the Standards Council of Canada meet strict administrative and technical criteria. The Standards Council is the federal Crown corporation with the mandate to foster and promote standardization.
