Flushable products and the need for standards and consumer education
The problem of flushable products is affecting sustainability of municipal waste water infrastructure in many ways. Blockages in the wastewater collection system can cause back ups into buildings and sewage and stormwater bypasses to the environement. Both are costly and harmful to public health and environmental health. Norma McCormick and I have collaborated on on article which will be published in the ISO/COPOLCO newsletter. Here is the article.
