The internet of us: How wearable tech can work with our bodies and emotions

dkingston's picture
Submitted by dkingston on Tue, 2015/04/07 - 08:14 to Consumer Protection in Wearable Computing

Interesting article from UL mag http://s.ul.com/1DngM2E

Call it the internet of bodies, call it emotionally intelligent wearable tech. Designers, engineers and artists want to wake the mainstream tech giants up to the realities of asking people to wear technology.  It's simple to define what they don't want - tech companies launching devices for the sake of it. The challenge is to figure out what we do want from our relationship with wearables.

Dear members in the Consumer Protection in Wearable Computing Group,

Thank you for your input and feedback on the Draft New Suggestion for ISO/COPOLCO Activity. I have included your comments in the attached version. I am planning to send it to Ms Merete Holmen Murvold (SN – Norway) who is the co-chair of the COPOLCO WORKING GROUP WG 2, Key areas for consumers (and in which I am an active participant) for her distribution to the group. Following, depending on the reaction, I will send it to Ms. Dana Kissinger, Secretary of COPOLCO.

Are consumers being deceived when using natural drug store remedies?

Daniel Ethier's picture
Submitted by Daniel Ethier on Thu, 2015/03/19 - 15:56 to Consumer Safety / Sécurité des consommateurs

Have you looked around you drugstore lately - there are special sections or an aisle of natural remedy products for everything? Have you ever wondered if they are better?

In this Marketplace episode, it explains how easy it is for anyone to invent and get their natural product approved by Health Canada. It does not require any type of scientific research or proof that they actually work?  So these products get to receive a real government licence to make very powerful claims. Is this a licence to deceive consumers?
