Getting Information on the Products That We Purchase

You ever wondered after buying a product about the reliability and limited life cycle of that product, what to do if that product fails you or where and how you can find spare or replacement parts for that product that you have purchased?

Products come from every corner of the world; consumers are now more than ever demanding to know answers to questions about their purchases as they integrate environmental, social, cultural, ethical and political considerations into the criteria governing their purchases.  Purchasers, in addition to demanding detailed health and safety information, demand information that is clearer, complete, transparent, and coherent.

If you are among these conscious consumers, SCC would encourage you to join our mirror committee for the development of ISO/IEC Guide 14, Purchase Information on Goods and Services Intended for Consumers. The Guide's primary purpose is to advise those responsible for drafting national or International Standards on what information prospective consumers (whether goods or services) require and expect.
