Overview
As Canada’s national accreditation body, The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is the only Canadian organization offering internationally recognized accreditation validation and verification bodies. This program is for organizations that provide third-party validation or verification services for the reduction and removal of GHGs.
Requirements for SCC’s accreditation program for verification bodies are defined in ISO 14065:2013. A new version of that standard, ISO/CD 14065, is under development.
SCC is affiliated with several cross-border, multi-sector GHG initiatives. We have developed the ICAO-CORSIA accreditation sub-program to support the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). We invite inquiries from GHG validation and verification bodies at accreditation@scc.ca.
SCC accreditation supports provincially-mandated emissions reporting and cap-and-trade programs. It will also support carbon pollution pricing in Canada, including the federal Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS), beginning with the 2019 compliance period.
Validation and verification bodies from around the world seek SCC accreditation as proof that their work is in line with the most current national and international standards and regulations.
