For customers and stakeholders in SCC’s Inspection Body Accreditation Program (IBAP),
SCC is happy to announce that it is now ready to begin accepting applications for the accreditation of inspections of medical electrical equipment against the CSA Model Code SPE-3000, which was published earlier this year.
In order to address particular requirements within SPE-3000, SCC has instituted several amendments to its document Requirements and Guidance - Inspection Body Accreditation Program. These changes (covering such topics as inspector competency and reporting requirements) will have to be adhered to by those customers wishing to be granted a scope extension for SPE-3000. The revised Requirements and Guidance document is currently obtaining final approval from SCC’s governing council, and will be published as soon as it is available, along with a subsequent bulletin explaining the revisions.
Existing IBAP customers who wish to apply for scope extension to add the inspections of medical electrical equipment (against CSA Model Code SPE-3000) must fill out the attached application form, provide the relevant evidence and return it to their Account manager, along with the applicable scope extension fee. Once this is received the Account Managers will contact the applicants to plan the activities required for the assessment of the scope extension.
In order to provide a level playing field, SCC will begin assessing the scope extension requests it receives in early January, with the aim to granting all scope extensions to those compliant customers on June 30th, 2016. Any customers who would not have completed the process by June 30th will be granted their scope extension only once they become compliant.
If you have any questions, please contact your account manager.
