For SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs),
SCC’s Standards Solutions Branch recently updated CAN-P-1 into a new document, titled Requirements & Guidance – Accreditation of Standards Development Organizations. As part of these revisions, SCC has made the following changes to the requirements for SDO accreditation:
Consolidation
- 4.3.1 Identification of Duplication - Consolidation from CAN-P-1008, monitor Central Notification System (CNS) and identify duplication
- 6.6.1 Notice of Intent (NOI) - Consolidation from CAN-P-1007 to provide NOI to CNS.
New
- 5.1 Canadian Relevance, b) the proponent requesting the standard
- 6.6.1 Notice of Intent - The SDO shall issue a new NOI when International harmonized stage code 10, Proposal stage, has not been met within a maximum timeframe of 12 months.
- 6.10.2 Reaffirmations - include applicable updates to the informative part of standard
Removed
- 4.13 References to Certification or Administrative Requirements - No Requirement
SCC has determined that as these changes are minor, it will assess each SDO’s transition to the new document via a short questionnaire, which is attached to the bulletin.
The due date for all SDOs to completed the transition to the new Requirements & Guidance – Accreditation of Standards Development Organizations has been set at October 1st, 2015. In order to allow SCC to be able to review each response, SCC asks that each SDO submit its completed questionnaire no later than Friday, August 21st, 2015. SDOs are requested to submit their questionnaires directly to their Account Manager.
Once the responses are reviewed and approved, each SDO will then receive an updated Accreditation Certificate.
