Canadian standard for certifying farmed seafood as organic is released

With the release of the Canadian Organic Aquaculture Standard (CAN/CGSB 32.312-2012) on May 10, 2012, Canadian farmed seafood can now be certified as organic. Consumers are now able to purchase certified organic farmed seafood including finfish, shellfish and aquatic plants.

This new National Standard of Canada was approved by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and developed by the Canadian General Standards Board. The standard prohibits fish farm operators seeking organic status...
