Transition to ISO/IEC 17021:2006 (CAN-P-16)

The two-year transition to ISO/IEC 17021:2006 Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems - as set out by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) on November 14, 2006 -  ended September 15, 2008.  As a result, accreditation certificates issued to to CAN-P-10 (ISO/IEC Guide 62:1996 ) and/or CAN-P-14 (ISO/IEC Guide 66:1999), have expired.

CAN-P-16 (SCC's adoption of  ISO/IEC 17021:2006) replaced CAN-P-10 and CAN-P-14, becoming the accreditation standard for bodies certifying management systems such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

All SCC-accredited Certification bodies have completed the transition to CAN-P-16 and retain "accredited" status.

ISO/IEC 17021 was approved on September 15, 2006. It replaces ISO/IEC Guide 62 and ISO/IEC Guide 66. Consequently, accreditation to these guides, or SCC's adoptions (e.g. CAN-P-10 and CAN-P-14) are no longer valid.
