The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased to announce that The Honourable Sergio Marchi of the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) and Leah Lawrence of Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) will be delivering keynote addresses at our World Standards Day 2018 event on October 4, 2018.
Sergio Marchi has been the President and CEO of the CEA since February 2015. He was a Member of Parliament for 15 years, and served in Cabinet as Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Minister of the Environment and Minister of International Trade.
Leah Lawrence has been the President and CEO of SDTC since June 2015, and is a Canadian clean technology executive, entrepreneur and writer.
In addition to our keynote presentations, SCC is delighted to be holding a panel discussion on Enabling an Innovation Nation. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Blair Feltmate, Head of the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo and a leading expert on the development of standardization solutions that will help us ensure we mitigate environmental impacts and adapt to climate change. One of the most important things SCC and the Intact Centre are working on is ensuring that Canada’s infrastructure remains resilient in the face of our changing climate.
The panel will feature three representatives from innovative companies SCC is working with. Participants will talk about technologies their companies have developed and discuss how participating in standardization is helping them scale up and go global. The panelists include:
- Audrey Mascarenhas, President and CEO, Questor Technology Inc.
- Andrew Massé, General Manager and Designer, WindTrans Systems
- Peter Tsantrizos, President and CEO, Terragon Environmental Technologies
If you are unable to attend the event in person, you can watch the Annual Public Meeting and World Standards Day event live on SCC’s website beginning at 1 p.m.
