The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased to announce our participation in an upcoming National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) workshop as well as the Annual Conference of the Society of Standards Professionals (SES).
The NIST workshop, taking place on August 6, 2018, in Nashville, Tennessee, is titled, “Conformity Assessment Guidance and Best Practices Workshop: Canada – Mexico – USA.” Leading stakeholders will share perspectives on how to approach conformity assessment in different sectors and will discuss some of the challenges faced. SCC Vice-President of Accreditation Services, Elias Rafoul, will be giving an overview of conformity assessment in Canada and participating in two panel discussions during the workshop.
There is no fee for the NIST workshop, but registration is required by July 23, 2018. Those interested in attending can register on the NIST website.
Immediately following the workshop, the 67th Annual SES Conference will take place from August 7–8, also in Nashville. The SES conference will feature several sessions to discuss key issues in standardization, bringing together standards leaders and stakeholders to address challenges and opportunities. Elias Rafoul will be speaking at a session comparing standards and conformity assessment systems in North America. Also presenting at this conference is Alec Clark, SCC Manager of Innovation and Regional/International Engagement, who will be speaking at the session “Idea to Standard: Exploring the Road from the Identification to Creation of a Standard.”
