The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), Canada’s national accreditation body, and the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) are pleased to announce a collaboration to offer Safe Quality Food (SQF) Code accreditation.
SQF Code certification plays a vital role in ensuring a safe food system. It addresses food safety and quality requirements and provides the solution for businesses supplying local and global food markets.
SCC’s new accreditation service will be offered through our internationally-recognized Accreditation Program for Product, Process and Service Certification Bodies, which assesses compliance under ISO/IEC 17065: Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services. SCC accreditation is recognized throughout Canada and is mandatory in certain regulated areas, and certification bodies from around the world seek SCC accreditation as proof that their work is in line with the most current national and international standards and regulations. Accreditation provides proof of compliance and can open doors to foreign markets.
SQFI’s mission is to deliver consistent, globally recognized food safety and quality certification programs based on sound scientific principles, consistently applied across all industry sectors and valued by all stakeholders. They are recognized by retailers and foodservice providers around the world who require rigorous, credible food safety management systems.
"We are proud of this collaboration with SQFI to offer a new safe quality food accreditation solution that will help our customers and contribute to a safe food system. Accreditation is an integral piece of global standardization system, and this new offering will help SCC continue expanding our offerings to provide ever greater value to Canada.”
