The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased to announce a number of executive and management appointments within the Accreditation Services Branch.
These staffing adjustments position the Accreditation team to deliver high quality accreditation services. Providing accreditation services within 10 different program areas is central to SCC’s mandate as it aligns us with government priorities and regulations, and reinforces SCC’s role as an internationally recognized organization.
Effective February 5, 2018, Elias Rafoul joins the Executive Management Team of SCC as Vice-President, Accreditation Services Branch (ASB). Prior to joining SCC, Elias served as Director General, Business Management Support, at the National Research Council Canada (NRC) for three years. Before that, he was Managing Director for Nexus Telecom (Americas) Inc., a Swiss-based telecommunications company with operations in Canada, for 10 years and also worked for several high-tech companies, including Nortel and Newbridge Networks. Elias holds a Master of Computer Science degree from the Telecommunication Software Engineering Program, and an Honours Bachelor of Science degree – both from the University of Ottawa.
Cynthia Milito, who had been Acting Vice-President of ASB for the past six months, will resume directing operations of the Accreditation team but with a new title and expanded responsibilities as Senior Director of ASB. She had previously been Director of ASB.
Other management changes taking place in ASB effective on February 5 include Jesse Arndt returning to his role as Account Manager, Customer Services. Jesse had been working as the Acting Customer Services Manager during the Vice-President recruitment period and, while he is returning to his Account Manager role, Jesse will now perform in more of a blended position.
Additionally, Anne Bossé will assume the role of Manager, Compliance and Assessment Services. Anne was previously the Manager of Customer Service in ASB and was Acting Director. As the ASB Management team resets with the arrival of the Vice-President, Anne will now head up the technical services team as Manager, Compliance and Assessment Services. Patricia Inostroza, (former Manager, Compliance and Assessment Services) will move into the role of Manager, Customer Relations and Operations and lead changes that include integration of a new business management solution.
