Can you picture a world without international standards? What would that look like? The World Standards Cooperation wants you to show them by creating a 15-second video for World Standards Day.
This video competition raises awareness about the importance of international standards in everyday life. While standards often go unnoticed, they are essential to everyday activities like paying with credit cards, scanning bar codes at the grocery store or using appliances in our homes.
Your video should demonstrate something that would not work or that people could not do without international standards.
The creators of the best video will win 1500 Swiss francs. The three runners-up will receive 500 Swiss francs each.
Participants should upload their videos to YouTube and post the link on social media using the hashtag #speakstandards by July 20, 2015.
A compilation of favorite moments from all the videos will be shared during World Standards Day, October 14, 2015.
The World Standards Cooperation is a high-level collaboration between the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and ITU (International Telecommunication Union). Under this banner, the three organizations promote their common interests in strengthening and advancing the voluntary consensus-based international standards system
