Help honour and communicate the important role accreditation plays in the global standards and conformity assessment community. The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) invite their national representatives from around the world to commemorate June 9 as World Accreditation Day 2012.
The theme for this year’s annual event is Accreditation – Supporting Safe Food and Clean Drinking Water. According to ILAC, which established World Accreditation Day with IAF, “It is critical that consumers have confidence in the safety, security and authenticity of the food and water they consume. This confidence is gained through the application of common food safety management systems, supported by credible testing and inspection regimes.”
For more than 15 years, the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) has been helping to ensure the quality of testing results for drinking water. SCC is Canada’s national accreditation body for environmental testing laboratories. As well, SCC accredits certification bodies for food safety management systems to the international standard ISO/IEC 17021. Please continue to check SCC’s website for important updates on how we support safe food and clean drinking water.
