Two of the world's leading standards bodies have published a new guide to help standards developers address the needs of the elderly and people with disabilities. ISO/IEC Guide 71, Guidelines for standards developers to address the needs of older persons and persons with disabilities, identifies potential problem areas and ways of resolving them, in order to enhance quality of life, reduce discrimination and generate user-friendly products for the entire population. The new guide is published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and is available from Global Engineering Documents, the Standards Council's sales agent.
