The Canadian Standards Association is back - although it never actually went away.
In 1999, the non-profit standards development and conformity assessment organization changed its name from "Canadian Standards Association" to "CSA International". While the new name reflected the increasingly international scope of the organization's activities, it also produced some confusion about the connection between its standards development and conformity assessment roles.
A new business design is expected to resolve that confusion. CSA's standards-development division will now be known as the Canadian Standards Association. The certification and testing division is now called CSA International. The management systems registration division will continue to be known as QMI. The organization as a whole will be known as CSA Group.
