Canadian colleges and universities play a crucial role in shaping the future of Canada's workforce and in securing its position in an increasingly global economy. The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) provides a valuable service to Canadian universities by offering access to ISO and IEC standards, at no cost, through its Standards in Education program.
Benefits of participation
By having access to ISO and IEC standards at no cost, students are able to produce higher quality academic work, gain a better understanding of the standardization process, and be better qualified to enter the workforce. Over 30 universities and colleges across Canada, including the University of Toronto, l’École de technologie supérieure, and the University of British Columbia, are already involved in SCC’s Standards in Education program.
How to participate
Standards are typically used as part of a course pack or to supplement a student’s chosen field of research. Applications may be submitted by course professors, or other designated individuals, such as chief librarians. Please email your request to education@scc.ca and include the following information:
- Name of institution
- Title of course
- Name and title of person responsible for course
- Numbers, titles and language (English and/or French) of requested documents to a maximum of fifteen (15) per course
- Estimated number of users with access to documents
- Period for which access to documents is requested
