Call for Submissions and Story Ideas

Do you have a story about the role of standards or conformity assessment, that you would like to share by having it appear in CONSENSUS?

The Standards Council of Canada is dedicated to ensuring that articles published in CONSENSUS reflect the diversity of voices that make up the National Standards System; we welcome your submissions and/or story ideas.

Production Deadlines

CONSENSUS (v.37, 2010) was published October 14, 2010. Production deadlines for the next edition of CONSENSUS are not yet available.

Length/Format

Stories published in CONSENSUS range in length from 500 to 1,000 words.  Submissions are accepted in either English or French; all stories must be translated for publication in separate English and French editions.

All copy must be submitted in electronic format that is editable.

Please confirm the intended length, format and language of your submission with the Magazine staff.

Audience / Content Guidelines

The readers of CONSENSUS vary in their knowledge and understanding of standards and standardization.  Plain language text presented in a non-technical voice is preferable. For a more detailed description of the Magazine’s audience please consult the CONSENSUS reader profile.

All story ideas and submissions will be reviewed and considered based on their relevance to the proposed theme.  In order to provide a good mix of articles, original pieces that illustrate the impact of standards in action will be given priority.

Although we may not be able to accommodate all proposed ideas and submissions in this next issue, the SCC Communications division welcomes the opportunity to work with you to determine other publication venues.  Stories that are not published in this next issue will be considered for publication on the SCC corporate web site.
