Testing Laboratory - Forensic
This document replaces CAN-P-1578.
This document is designed to apply to all types of forensic objective testing and therefore needs to be interpreted in respect of the type of calibration and testing concerned and the techniques involved. It provides an amplification of those requirements in ISO/IEC 17025:2005 that need interpretation when applied in laboratories carrying out forensic analysis and examination. The technical base of this document is drawn from published principles, as well as practices and procedures promoted by national and international organizations.
Requirements and Guidance for the Accreditation for Forensic Testing Laboratories

Our efforts to overhaul the Accreditation Services Branch operations are still ongoing. A modernized Quality Management System has been in place since the fall of 2013, and we have had two internal audits to test the effectiveness of the new QMS.

If your laboratory is conducting, or considering conducting, DNA relationship or familial testing, please note that your laboratory is obligated to comply with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005, the requirements of CAN-P-1578 - Guidelines for the Accreditation of Forensic Testing Laboratories, Program Specialty Area - Forensic Testing Laboratories (PSA-FT).
